I went to DEFCON9, the 2001 hacker convention in Las Vegas. I can say
there were a few feds, some that blended in, and some that did not. Most
had been made by the end of the event.. Some, I think, wanted to be
made! Most were going to the sessions and seminars, rather than 'spying'
on people. Feds and other 'cops' are always welcome at such events.

By the way, we played the 'capture the flag' game, s a server team. our
DEC (now H/P) Alpha running OpenVMS was one of only two machines that
was not hacked and destroyed when subjected to 5000+ hackers for 3 days.
