This is Red's response, so far:

I had just a few moments last night. The brakes then were free. On my
truck, the vent line comes up under the windshield line, then over it. It had
         been bent *almost* flat around the windshield wiper line --
probably hit by the clamp lever on the air cleaner. Could it
expand enough to close when hot, maybe? I dunno. I won't have time to run the
truck enough to get things really hot for a week or so. I'll keep my
fingers crossed!
