On the 151 series trucks..the steering box is from a TONKA Toy truck. Not
much to one. The hole in the bottom has a "tube" in it that goes up the
center of the steering shaft. This tube is attached to the bottom of the
steering box case..thus creating a seal for the containment of the oil in
the box.. When the shaft is installed into the box..it was common for a GI
to bend those tubes..and then hit it with a hammer and straighten it out
again..thus breaking the seal between it and the case. Guess what ?? It was
on it's way to leaking oil. Nothing can fix it - but to remove the box and
silver braze it back on.. Good luck..Gene
