The muffler is mounted to the frame with two bolts cushened with rubber
washers. The muffler may move around a bit too much for the clearance. Mine
did the same thing. It may not be very professional, but I just used a
really long stainless steel hose clamp to pull the muffler out of the way of
the forward prop shaft (actually the u-joint).
