There are NO "military" suburbans-none were made as far as a CUCV was
concerned until 2nd generation-1998. If it is camo, it was painted from a
civilian model. You aren't talking of a 1009 Blazer are you? All of the
diesel engines in those years were excellent. (1983>UP 6.2L) Problems in
the 4WD system? I don't think so as they were properly mechanically
engineered and gave NO trouble unless abused or wrecked. Problems to look
for? That it works. The gov't didn't buy any "bad" diesels from GM as all
were 6.2L and later. If they were, they wouldn't have lasted 20 years with
GI's driving them esp when they had a life expectancy of 9 years in the
military system. They're Chevrolets and they're good trucks. But this
doesn't mean that it is in perfect condition either and you may need to
bring a knowledgeable mechanic with you if you don't know how to buy a used
car which is essentially what you are doing here. Julian Burke
