Re: [MV] Hercules engines

Hi David,

If Continental developes an engine (which they did) how does another company
(Hercules) get to build the same exact engine? Is there some multisource
requirement by the government whereby Uncle Sam provides the drawings for
the engine to many potential manufacturers? I'm a bit naive on this point,
perhaps you can clear it up for me.

I also have a question on the MAN (Machinenfabrik Augsburg Nurnburg,
Germany) connection. The tag on my Hercules engine says "MAN license", does
that refer to the entire engine or just the piston design? I have asked you
about this once before and I'm not sure that you knew the answer then. The
people at Hercules engine co have no clue.

Did, or does, MAN manufacture the same engine?

Thanks for any information you, or anybody, can provide.

Bjorn
