Electrically, it doesn't matter which terminal is disconnected or connected
first.
For safety reasons, the ground is disconnected first and reconnected last
when working with the battery.
By removing the ground connection first you don't have to worry about
hitting the metal parts around the battery with the wrench when removing the
positive connection.
Since the negative terminal is tied to ground there is no chance of creating
sparks when working on it, that's why it's disconnected first.
I guess I said that enough times now.
