I have been fighting with my jeep and a problem which is looking more and
more like a fuel pump issue. But I do not know enough to be sure. Let me
describe what I have and maybe somebody can tell me if I am full of it or
not....
I installed an in-line fuel filter, between the pump and the carb. It is
one of those see through things. When I first start it up the fuel filter
is about 90% full of fuel and after it runs for a couple of minutes that
level dwindles down to about 20% full, regardless of how fast or slow the
engine is running. I opened up the gas cap just to be sure there wasn't a
vent problem, it had no effect on the issue.
Does this sound like the fuel pump is not putting out as it should (replaced
last month but you never know)? Could it possibly be the flexible fuel line
to the tank side of the pump is collapsing?
Any thoughts would be welcome!
Thanks.
