I would recommend that you plug in another
Bendix switch in order to determine if the unit
does, indeed, have an internal short .. More likely
it doesn't and the short circuit is in the vehicle
wiring somewhere.
If the replacement works okay, then the first
Bendix switch was bad, it is likely that
you will still have a short somewhere and
the same symptom will occur with the substitute
switch..

Yesterday I went for a drive in the jeep when suddenly all lights went out. The three lever light switch appeared to short the current. Is there a possibility to open the thing and repair or would it be best to try and get a NOS one?
