One drawback with the flame heater system is that it uses oxygen in the
process. Only use it at low rpm's when there is more than enough oxygen for
the engine. NEVER use ether (starting fluid) at the same time.

I have used the flame heater on a number of occasions, but ether works
better. Use it properly, small doses while cranking the engine. It usually
takes two people for this.
Of course, good batteries are a must. Fast cranking helps a lot.
