I have an M-60 and a GAU-5 (xm177e2) on my M151A2. After 9/11, I quit
driving around with the armament mounted in plain sight. I now store it in
back until I arrive and then assemble the display. The only trouble I have
had is this year at the local Air Force base, we were arriving for an air
show and the information about our clubs de-activated weapons got lost in
the shuffle and we had a lot of trouble getting on base. We did, but it was
dicey for a while. There is a picture of this episode at the gate on our
web site, as we are getting searched in more detail. (no rubber gloves
fortunately)

I agree that the vehicle should be displayed in a historical context and
that if this includes weapons they should be present. When I am asked if
the guns are real I explain what they are so there is no misunderstanding.

My GAU-5 is a softair gun, very detailed but in no way a real steel shooter.
The M-60 is a demilled gun.
