Aaron,
I was on a run a week or two after the 50th and drove the new Rubicon edition through.
My advice to you is that if your M38A1 is a beater, take it, have fun. rebuild your brakes, carburetor, retorque your tapered axles and steering knuckle bolts, check all your brake lines, and add rock rails, tow hooks, and the mandatory roll bar.
If you intend to keep the vehicle stock or show it, buy another Jeep or hitch a ride with a friend that is going.
I highly recommend the experience, but you will definitely damage the Jeep if it is your first time without special prep.
don't get me wrong, they have the best Jeep Mechanics alive there to help you out with repairs and spare parts, but if you don't want any beauty marks on your sheetmetal, leave that Jeep home.
There are actually 3 events, Jeepers Jamboree, Jeep Jamboree, and Jeep Jamboree USA. Which one you choose depends on your preferred balance between Jeeping, partying, and family experiences.
Contact me direct if you want more info. This really doesn't belong on the MV.
