For those new collectors out there please do not allow this previous email
to stop you in your search some of what is in it is true however it is not
as bad as would be said by many. Collecting military vehicles is a great
hobby and if you get involved and learn the in and outs of what is where and
who is who you will soon see there are many untapped resources that may take
a little work to find and then get the wheels moving but none the less they
are there.

I happen to know for a fact that a person with the ability to see a project
thru and that has the resources to find and afford the parts can find and
return a M998 to operational conditional for less than 20K now keep in mind
I did not use the word restored. For those that are looking for vehicles do
not forget to look behind rural fire stations near mountains and anywhere
else that Humvees may have been used and discarded as a parts vehicle I know
for a fact they are out there.

There are many collectors who have found the impossible by not giving up and
by ignoring those with bad attitudes who would say give up it does not
exist.
And I am a true believer and witness to reasonable deals happening all the
time between reasonable people.

There have been two HMMWV auctions one west and one east and I am sure there
will be others some day but probably not thru Government liquidators.
I would like to welcome all new comers to this hobby of collecting military
vehicles and hope that you continue to hunt for your green treasures. And do
please join the MVPA it is an excellent way to learn more about the hobby
and make friends with same interests who will eagerly support you in your
quests .

A couple of months ago I got a Humvee motor and transmission for $500.00
dollars from a gentlemen on a horsepower hunt with a Cummins.
And I know of a friend you got one the same way for free.
And I happen to know of a wrecking yard with CUCVees being smashed flat in
Southern California the engines and drive trains are pulled and go for $900
no warranty I bought a front differential for $300 hub to hub so keep
looking.
Not all Military vehicles are in use by the military there are large numbers
in other market segments that dispose of them thru civilian channels.
They are out there even some of the military vehicle / parts dealers have
parts trucks for sale resononably priced 13K or less so keep looking and
keep the faith.
