My son Jesse also has the Green Machine bug, but I am not surprised a bit. He is
eighteen, and has already <built> several street racer Chevys and tough 4x4
Chevy trucks, Blazers and Jimmys. Built, not bought.
I suppose it might have all started with Dad letting him (successfully) steer
the 74 Nova on back roads when he was a year old, standing on my legs to see
over the wheel. Maybe it was getting to ride to kindergarten and be dropped off
among all the minivans on a 1950 Harley flathead each morning? Nah, it was
probably the 100 mph+ most of the way trip to the hospital he took in my 66
Caprice when his Mom was in labor with him.Maybe passin me wrenches and sockets
under a car when most of his peers were workin on potty training.
Hard tellin, but I can tell you one thing for certain: I am very proud of him in
all things, and his interest in the MVs is just one more way that we can share
our time and passions toward things together. Since we have never had much for $
he has had to learn to do it all with his mind, his back and his hands.... I
couldn't have gotten a better son if I ordered NOS parts and assembled him
myself, an honor roll student and a gear head all in one. Hope he don't bust as
many knuckles as I have over the years. lol.
MV Content: We are currently trying to find a M1009 shell for him to direct his
efforts and do that magic with vehicles that he can do so well. He is getting
way too possessive of the two M1009s, time to get him a big green project, so he
can do it his way. Maybe even an M1008 would get my wheels back from him for a
time :-)
Best regards,
Bones.
