Question kind sir: Why does TM 9-819 show the battery box as having two
batteries? There were one or two photo's of it in the front half of the
manual.

frame, very near the battery compartment.
I'm going to check the generator/alternator and a couple other parts you or
others mentioned to confirm this, but believe the vehicle is running on 12
volts now. That would make sense if they, for some idiotic reason, chose
to have one battery for each sub-system on the truck.
I am concerned that none of the lights comes on. I wonder ( am at work
now, away from my beloved TMs ) did deuces of the early 50's have any form
of circuit breakers? I don't recall any but...
As there was no spark when connecting the negative battery clamp I have to
presume there isn't a short large enough to keep the truck from at least
giving me lights. Or do I?
Anyway, thanks for the confirmation about starting procedures on a real
1953 deuce. :}
