I don't know if it applied to all, but the several WW 2 Jap tanks I
have seen were lined out on every interior surface with asbestos.
Would be a big job to decontaminate the thing before you could even
think about restoring it. EPA in the US would probably have a pink fit
if you tried to import something like that.
