With the tire inflated the bead has to break to have a come apart.
If the tire has been deflated the locking ring can pop out of it's
groove so any time you inflate a loose tire or the front tire on a truck
use a clip on chuck and stand out of the way. I have a 4 foot hose I
bought at autozone on mine that I use daily to inflate heavy equipment
tires.
I have had 16 inch rings blow off my civy wrecker sitting at a red
light, I thought I was shot. One time I was but that is another story.
