Well, after nearly a month, I got my 86 M1009 back from the transmission
shop. On Christmas eve, my tranny disintegrated, exactly two days after my
12 month rebuild warranty expired. Fortunately, they rebuilder agreed to
honor the warranty anyway. However, the shift points are all messed up, so
I need to adjust it myself. The main problem is that it is revving far to
high before shifting gears - so high that the normal CUCV 'clunk' from 1st
into 2nd gear is so severe that if I were to push the pedal down hard, I
think I would leave a trail of differential gears behind me. Also, the
shift from 2nd to 3rd is so high that I spend most of my time (city driving)
revved up high in 2nd gear until nearly 45 mph.
If anyone has a M1009 that they think shifts quite nicely, let me know what
speeds yours is shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd - that should save
me some time messing around with the vacuum modulator and turning the vacuum
pump to adjust original vacuum.
Thanks,
Nathan Wilkens
