Ken
Somebody else will have to tell us where they were used and for what.
As is, a 486 computer isn't good for much. Would run old dos applications
and Windows 3.1. Windows 95 would be very slow.
Win 98 requires at least a 386.
The box is very cool. If the display could be used to display any kind of
graphics, and you could hack up the insides to put a somewhat modern
motherboard with a pentum in there, you would have something usable as a
somewhat modern computer.
Otherwise, I hear that Dos software is cheap and plentiful (Dumpster diving)
and it is an interesting piece of memorabilia as a military mobile computer.
