M35A2 TOP BOW PROBLEM

Bought some top bows for my truck....these are for a dropside because the
bowed top cross section will disconnect very easily. My truck has the old
wooden troop racks and my new top bow vertical pieces fall too far into the
troop rack vertical pieces.

Nothing comes easy...does it ??

Any suggestions are fixes ? Dimensions for overall height ??
