Subj: Jeep aerials

From: higgipop@tiscali.co.uk

My friend has a 1942/3 Willys that has been restored, but he likes adding Jeep items to it. His recent purchase was a period radio transmitter/receiver that he has now mounted in the back of the Jeep. He aleready has the aerial mounted on the rear of the Jeep. We are now trying to connect the radio to the aerial mast, and we are having some problems that you or your many site visitors may be able to help with.

The wire coming out od the bottom of the mast has been cut off with about 1 inch sticking out. Rather than use a block connector to join a new piece of wire between the radio and the aerial, we want to use the originial connector, but this is hidden inside the aerial base.

The top part of the aerial base unscrews from the spring attached to the mounting plate, but there appears to be another spring inside the larger outer spring, and this does not let us remove the top portion of the mount.

Do you know how to dismantle the aerial base unit to the point where a!
new piece of aerial wire can be connected to the base unit?
