Hey List-
I've been lurking on this list for a while... I purchased a 1984 Military
CUCV (M-1009) About a little over a year ago, and as most things go, I can't
afford to keep it right now.

A little about it... Its exactly as I received it... straight from Military
Use. I purchased it from Bracken Motors in February of last year... drove
out and picked it up and drove it back (nearly 2,000 Miles).

The vehicle is in tip top shape... has all the usual dents and dings that
are usual with this type of vehicle. Has all the original equipment...
bumpers, black outs, all radio hookups (No antenna mounts, if that's a
selling point I can definately add them).

Near as I can tell, this vehicle was used in the Air Force... as all the
labels indicate, and as such has very low mileage (25,500 Original Miles).
Gets between 20 & 22 MPG All the time (Never gotten below 20 MPG since I've
owned, and I'm heavy on the gas). The tires are still in descent condition
(I think the tires are the original tires, hehe) and I replaced 1 tire
because of a leak, also I have 2 other near new tires that can be mounted...

Now for what you've been waiting for, what I'm asking for it. I'm asking
$6,000 for it. I know that seems high, but here's why I'm asking that much.
I purchased the vehicle a year ago for $4,500... on the way home, the 20
year old Transfer Case Seals went, so I had the transfer case seals
replaced, and the transfer case and transmission fully serviced (No
overhaul, but I had them replace all the fluids, filters, gaskets and check
everything else). Total Cost... $900 (I can dig up a receipt from the bank
if need be). I then took it to a diesel specialist and had him go through
the whole thing... he replaced all the hoses, fluids and belts. He checked
everything else out and said it was all ok (he did mention that the sway
bars were a little worn, but I just think they put smaller sway bars for
off-roadability). The total cost of this check out was around $500.

The price is negotiable, I'm very up front about everything I know about
this vehicle. It is currently registered in CA... no smog needed (as its
diesel). I just re-registered it, so it is good until February 2004. If you
have any questions, please send them to cucv@steven-west.com. Hope to find
someone interested in purchasing it, as I need to get myself out of some
debt as well, but wanted to price the vehicle fairly. Thanks.
