I'll have to ask my friend who drives an M1A1 over this weekend (if he's not away doing drills this weekend)

42MPH Road is probably the "safe speed." Tanks like the M1A1 can throw a track if going to fast. Keep in mind that 40MPH Off-Road is hauling rear - Tanks are designed for off-road use. That's as fast as you'll ever want to go. I've done faster, but it always results in damage to my 4x4s (bottoming out, suspension damage, crashing, tires, etc). Did 70 once and almost rolled my newest truck. I've been much more careful with my jeep, but have already snapped a spring in the front, and bent up two U bolts in the rear. (I mostly chock that up to metal fatigue)
