The gear ratios for the Spicer 3052 are as follows:
Reverse: 7.36 to 1
First: 7.55 to 1
Second: 4.18 to 1
Third: 2.45 to 1
Fourth: 1.45 to 1
Fifth: 1.00 to 1
The transfer (HI / LO) provides an additional 2 to 1 ratio.
In "LO" the gear ratios become:
Reverse: 14.72 to 1
First: 15.10 to 1
Second: 8.36 to 1
Third: 4.90 to 1
Fourth: 2.90 to 1
Fifth: 2.00 to 1
To minimize the increments, the shift pattern would have to be as follows:
(1st LO),(2nd LO),(1st HI),(3rd LO),(2nd HI),(4th LO),(3rd HI),(5th LO),(4th
HI) and (5th HI).
One would have to do a lot of highway driving to keep all that straight...
For vehicles with PTO's, the neutral position of the HI/LO transfer shift
lever also needs to be considered.
Looks like an interesting project.
