I was advised by penziol that where GL-1 is specified, especially in
older transmissions, you should use GL-1. It is what was known as
mineral oil. It is available, and does not contain EP additivies which
can attack yellow metal such as synchros etc. The GL-5 I have seen
contains such additives.

As for GL2,3,4, I do not know. There was a thread some time ago
describing a couple of horror stories from those who used GL5 in the
tranny.

I ordered (paid for) a tub of GL1 and GL5 from penziol, and had them
delivered to my mechanic..

GL1 -> transmission, transfer

GL5 -> differentials
