Hi Bjorn,
I can answer for myself. I think other participants may have differing
experiences during their trip.
There were almost 50 vehicles in the combined convoy that entered the
grounds at Churchville.
All serials drove at the maximum comfortable speed of the slowest
vehicles, which averaged close to 50 mph max on my speedometer.
The Convoy hours of activity and route were planned to maximize safety.
Some of the participants began their journey in the very early morning
hours, but most of us began well after sunrise. We did encounter periods
of rain. My wipers (air motors / boat arms and blades) operated without
a hitch. I put new blades on before I left for the trip.
We made several planned pit stops while en route. These allowed for
fuel, rest and mechanical checks as well as any minor repairs that may
have been needed.
Joe Trapp came from the furthest south, and Ashley Cambell and his
friends came down from Canada. They could best answer this question for
you. I only drove a couple of hundred miles each way.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions.
We certainly hope that you can join us for the 2004 East Coast Convoy!
