Sorry, I meant the "experts" that are interviewed on radio and TV news
programs. So far I haven't heard anybody who has wholeheartedly defended
the Patriot Act I or II as written. Some, in fact many, point out that
there are some things which law enforcement needs in order to improve its
capabilities to counter terroism and organized crime. However, the devil
is ALWAYS in the details. So far I haven't heard anything by criticism
that the way they were authorized in the Patriot Act is (on the whole)
too broad in terms of scope of power and lack of accountability. In
short the problems were addressed with a 12 guage shotgun a blind shooter
instead of a .22 cal rifle and a trained sniper.
