Hi Fred
Yeah I feel much happier with a CAT under the bonnet!!! :-)
I should have had Tom check over the engine before it was loaded onto
the ship.... oh well.... I've got some CAT people over here who can
check over it all.
My old M35A2's got a LDT-465-1D engine in it and easily pushes a good
70-75 mph.... and if you stuck some super singles on you could push it
to 80mph!!!! Its a lovely truck but I just don't feel as happy with a
40 year old engine crossing deserts as I do with a nice CAT in there!!!
... I'm selling my old M35A2 now so if anyone's interested in a very
nice powerful deuce then let me know (its located in the UK at the mo).
The trips planed for 5-7 years, but somehow I can see it taking a little
longer probably!!! ... just knowing my timescales when travelling ... I
tend to fall in love with places and stay for 3 times longer than I was
meant to!!!
Thanks
Mike

Mike, I feel a whole lot better for you on your round the world trip in
the M36A3. I'd talk Tom here on the board to go with you...he's a CAT
man and deisel mechanic...sorry Tom... couldn't resist
it!...besides...It'd be a helluva vacation. How long did you say your
going to be gone Mike...5 or 6 years? Maybe Tom could take his truck
too...and you guys could race around the world...he already told us that
he has the world's fastest M-35...70-75 mph...lets see...25,000 miles
divided by 75 mph...333 hours...about two weeks...whatcha gonna do for
the rest of the time? Hmmm Fred Martin
