I stuck a one inch twist drill in one of those 1 1/2" (across flats) hex
X 7/8" NF truck lug nuts the other day (in a lathe) and they are heat
treated...took the cutting edge off the drill...so...if you make them
you reckon they ought to be made out of good steel? The smaller
ones...as on the jeeps and automobiles are probably made out of low
carbon steel though. JFYI....Fred Martin
