Something you all may be missing..DOT5 for the US Government is a bit purle
in color.. The color does not come from having some foreign fluid put into
it..it is purple because that is what our Government specified to be the
color. Clear DOT5's are civilian...they will never be found in the Military
system - anywhere. It would be extremely dangerous....some kid GI would
think it was regular DOT3 and use it is something - and then the $#!% would
hit the fan....
Purple is correct..and will stay that way. NEVER mix a civilian DOT5 with a
Military DOT5...it may work...BUT - it may not. It depends on the brand and
such...and it just is not worth the expense and time to tear down a brake
system to clean it - to save $20 or so.
