Replacing MULE drop axel needle bearings

Hi all,

Well, I finally got a chance to tear into my MULE after hearing the
dreaded "crunching" sound. Good news is that there is NO damage to the
housing. Schweeeeeew! However, I was reminded that this was the one
drop axel I did not tear apart after getting the vehicle over 2 years ago
(I don't know remember why I didn't do all 4 at the same time). There was
nasty, nearly solid oil and dirt coating the inside. Man that stuff
smells nasty!

The three needle bearings were intact but not really working all too
well. There had been some water in the housing when I got it and
apparently it helped cause some corrosion of the bearings. I can only
assume that age, corrosion, and grit got these suckers to the point where
they were grinding more than turning smoothly, and that is the noise I
heard. I'll have to replace the other bearings too as they appear to be
equally damaged.

My question to you MULE guys... how do I pull the needle bearing that is
seated on the inboard side of the drop axel housing? Obviously the two
on the outboard side are easy to remove, but for the life of me I can't
remember how I pulled the inboard one (I replaced nearly all bearings in
other three axels).

Thanks!!

Steve
