Hi playmates,
Naughty Noel from Norfolk { UK }here .
Firstly bump starting done wrong can do serious damage to the transmission
and also rip the engine from it`s mountings . Hi 2nd or or higher should be
used NEVER reverse . {unless the enermy is charging down on you }
Two strokes especially small ones were prone to running backwards and in
large marine applications reversing the engine by changing the timing of
the valves and injection in relation to the crank and restarting , often
with commpressed air was normal.
Four strokes don`t normally run backwards but the strange method of
injection on a multi fuel engine might just let this happen , but with
serious consequences as the oil pump will suck air and any oil from the
bearings back into the oil pan , bearing failure will very quickly occur .
Noel
