Years ago while on active duty and while driving in convoys, some halfway
across the USA, I can tell ya we were exempt from weigh stations, had to
pay some sort of fee at turnpikes , drove well maintained vehicles and
had to obey the traffic laws of course. The DOT, police, etc, never
messed with us. Any vehicle owned by the Federal govt is exempt from
private insurance. The Govt is self insured.
