Had a Ford long ago that would do that. Turned out the headlight switch
had a reostat for dimming the dash lights was burned up and would
overheat causing failure of ALL lights for about 5 minutes, then they
would all light up again.
I confess up front I do not know the wiring or controls in the M-series
MV's but there may be something similar going on. Dimmer switch is also
a possibility if corroded it can cause overheating of other components.
