I have an M75 APC that I need to move along. It looks
rough, but with a couple of weekends of work, it would make a nice
static display. The interior is all rusty, and if it were me, I'd just
pretty-up the outside and forget the inside. Lots of parts are missing,
but are available at SECO in Georgia. Tracks are in pretty good shape,
with some rubber still showing past the grousers. Guide pins still full
width.
The vehicle is 9 foot 3 wide, about 9 feet tall, and 17 feet long.
Weight is listed as 21 tons, battle-ready. I know a guy who has the
proper truck/trailer to move it, at least within the State of Washington. There
are people that can do long hauls, too. My guess is that he could move it
around here for a few hundred dollars. You'd have to arrange with him
on finances. I have some pix I can send, once I find them. There are lots of pictures
and facts about these M75s on the Idaho Motorpool website (http://www.idahomotorpool.com)
It rolls easily. Power pack would take lots of work to make it go, but
it is a distant possibility. If you want to see it, email first
to arrange. All the doors and hatches are there, but one rear door
(there are two) and the side hatch are sitting on the ground and need to
be put back on. Hull is straight, but has the demil cuts alone the sides, through
hatches, etc. Some demil cuts have already been filled in. These can be filled in
with welding and while they won't stop a HEAT round (or any kind of anti-armor round),
they will at least look correct, which is all that matters, anyway. One roadwheel is
chewed up, but rest are very nice, and were rebuilt or replaced shortly before being
surplussed out. The M75s were built around 1952-1953, followed by the M59 and then
the M113.
Price is $1,000 plus postage. :-) Hey, this would make a great parade
vehicle! Even if it ran, you'd be hauling it to the parade on a lowboy,
and you may as well just leave it on the lowboy during the parade. Or, use it
as a lawn ornament.
