Steve & all,
"How many are still in service? I was under the impression that actively
very few are still used even in the reserves." - Steve
Yep, there's at least a few still in the reserves as of a couple years ago...
Just a year ago I met some reserve marines fresh back into civilian life - for the time being. Both in their mid 20's, one with a mutt story. The story goes on to talk about how he drove the "jeep" (Yes, it was a mutt, but some jarheads don't know the difference) really fast on a dirt road, and hit a large bump. while he got severely bruised by the steering wheel, it kept him in his seat. The passenger, however, was shot out of the mutt. his legs were caught by the dash, and it broke them both. after being shot out of the vehicle he landed on the down side of the hill, and rolled a hundred feet or so down from the road.
The marine telling the story smiled and said; "Ha ha, Even to this day he still walks funny!"
