Dear jack & List ,
OH that we could have a climate that stays above
freezing , sadly this is not so in the UK , and water that freezes in the
lines is real fun in a snow storm especially if the lines are plastic.
Whilst the fuel must be clean and water free ,therefore filters and
separators are important , being able to draw moisture off at the tank is
best . In the UK most moisture enters the tank in the air and then condenses
. On the subject of diesel fuel , for vehicles that stand unused for long
periods , if there is water in the tank there is the risk that a diesel
eating bacteria that live at the fuel / water interface will reduce the fuel
to sludge that will foul the filters . This is a problem often found in
boats and can be prevented by adding a biocide to the fuel , before it
breeds , it`s to late once it`s started .

                         CHEERS Noel
