Consider hitting auctions for the components - it might take a while, but a
friend and I just put together a 16 hp gas Kohler ($50) with an Ingersoll
242 two stage compressor ($5) and a Curtis tank ($5)(from 1941 - ex navy
<-----mil-veh content). Total cost was $212.37, time to put together around
10 hours.

We run it with a 40 pound pressure pot, and it seems to be a good match.
Took a day to do a complete Landcruiser body.
