I have 3 small compressors (so called 6h.p., 4h.p., and a 2h.p.) which work
well together. Compressor sets that have automatic on/off have a check valve
that prevents back pressure against its compressor -- so there's no problem
there. Because I have low house power, I run the 6 on one circuit and the 4
& 2 off of another which keeps the breaker from tripping. Make a manifold
out of any type of metal plumbing pipe (the cheapest) connecting the 3
inlets with whatever air hose you have at hand; for the outlet to the pot,
use ¾" equipment. If your manifold's body (piece of pipe or tubing) is 2" or
larger (and longer, the better) it will act as a surge tank, allowing a
faster start when pulling the trigger. So, you have the compressor sets
close together and one larger hose going out to your sand pot.
My 2¢ worth,
