Friends:
Is anyone aware of any bad news about this company?
A week ago, I hired them, over the phone, to transport a customer's truck to
my area. It is a move costing $1800. So far, I have not received any
confirmation either by mail or fax. Phone calls, faxes, and emails go
unanswered. According to their website, they are a small, earnest,
family-owned business which is highly recommended. They did not allow me to
use a credit card, and insist upon my paying the driver (if he actually
exists) in cash or MO when the truck arrives.
So far, I am not out any money, just stressed, but reputations are made and
broken by bad scheduling. I wouldn't run a business this way, considering
the high stakes. It's as though they have been abducted by aliens. At this
point, I don't know if they have picked up the truck (the owner is out of
touch for a few days), crashed the truck, stolen the truck, sold the truck,
dropped it off somewhere wrong, or whatever. I need to co-ordinate the
arrival of the truck, due to my employees' and subcontractor's schedules,
ferries to my town, traffic on Long Island highways (a killer).
Any comments? Any of you guys know these clowns? I need guidance here. Reply
in confidence, privately, if necessary.
Arthur
