Gene, I would love to see a pic of the brass data plate if you ever happen
to take one... just love the CUCV rarities etc.
I was in Naval Mobile Construction Battalions 5, 15, and 24 over a period of
8 yrs, and remember vividly when we got the first CUCVs in NMCB 5 in 1986.
We were used to the M880s and M715s, and the common sentiment was that the
the whole TH400 setup was kinda girly-man <g>. I guess we all just had a
granny-gear dependancy problem and didn't realize it until then. lol Still
reach for the SM465 lever in my 1009, it is the only auto vehicle in my
fleet of Chevys.

None of the approx 100 1009s and 1008s I operated ever had the brass data
plate, so it makes it even more of a rarity to hear of one, and I am most
intrigued.

Best regards to all,

T, Bones Morris
