>From "Vehicle and Traffic Law", State of New York, 1996 Edition ( latest
one I could put my hands on in a hurry):
Title III
Article 10
Section 385
Para 1 (a) i
"The maximum width of a vehicle, inclusive of load...shall be 102 inches,
PLUS SAFETY DEVICES,...blah blah blah". (My emphasis)
There is no definition in the book of "safety devices". I assume they mean
mirrors, lights, etc.
If you go out and measure a big truck, you will find that it is 96 inches
wide, plus the mirrors.
My M35A2 is 96 inches across the bed, and the mirrors stick out about a foot
on each side, for a total width overall of +/-10 feet.
