My generator stopped charging today. Prestolite
Belts still on and armature is spinning.

I am going to take it off tomorrow and check it out.

Any help on what to check first?

Is the voltage regulator internal or external?
Are there brushes that wear out?
Is it an alternator or a generator, and does it have diodes that blow up?
