Untrue in Korea '78-81. They usually preferred to be chauffeured, but
officers definitely had to be licensed and authorized to check vehicles out
of the Motor Pool. In fact, only E-6 or E7 and above and all officers were
allowed to own personal vehicles at that time. Not sure if they had to
obtain a valid Korean drivers license or if their military one was
sufficient for the civilian auto tho.
