I ran into the problem of the carrier not adjusting out far enough on a
chevy differential many years ago...I think I was putting a 4 into a 3
carrier. Looking at it from a machinist's point of view...I just made a
shim in a lathe somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4" wide and it worked fine.
