Hi Kevin:
Easiest solution would be to try and hook up with some one who is
breaking up CUCV Blazers and Pickups. They are basically Chevys adapted to
mil specs and have a military female trailer receptacle that plugs into the
CUCV harness (read civy Chevy) that has wires that go only to the normal
civy brown, green, yellow and white{?} (senior moment here, can't remember
the last color) and the requisite mil pins. I picked one up for $20 or so
last summer at an HMV Rally/Flea Market. (One coming up in March at Lowell,
MA VFW).
That way you wouldn't have to butcher anything, except maybe change the
bulbs to 12 VDC. Other option would be to change over to the new style LED
Mil tail light assemblies that work from 10 to 32 VDC that several vendors
have available. This would allow you to keep the mil look but use on both
civilian vehicles and mil vehicles and HMMWVs when you move up to one ( or
2, or.....). You will, you know. Tail wagging the dog type of thing or in
your case, the trailer shameing the H2 sorta, kinda like, wannabe HMMWV into
the correct thing to tow the M101A2 with.....
   ;-)
BTW..... (GASP!!!!) you're not thinking of changing the color of the
M101A2 to Sunset Orange are you? How about changing the color of the H2 to
393 Green? Hmmmm, come on... at least think about it!

Subject: [MV] M101A2 - couple Questions

Good Day All;
Been lurking for awhile - finally got the "gumption" to make a post. I'm
in MA
Nice group you have here - I appreciate being able to participate.

I have a ¾ Ton M101A2.
Is there a preferred way to adapt the wiring for civilian use. I'm just
getting into this "Scene" and would really regret ruining such a
beautiful piece of equipment by doing an improper conversion. Is it
routine to merely change out the military multi-pin connector to a
standard 4,6 or 7 pin connector or do folks make an adapter to use the
OEM plug on their vehicles?
The trailer is a 1990 - I haven't even opened up the light assembly to
determine if its 12V or not - but I imagine there are more lights in
there than are necessary as well. Is there a preferred # or combination
of lights to use?

I apologize for incoherent questions and appearing totally ignorant.
I'm quite capable of doing the work - I just don't want to "reinvent the
wheel" or create a non-standard set-up.

Lastly; I'm also trying to source a new tarp for the trailer.

Thank you for your indulgence.
