Hello all,
Happy new year to all of you! Have a safe night!
Well heres what happened. I got my M211 about 8 months ago. The parking
brake was gone, Ripped off, broken off the metal plate that the top rear
axel goes into. I found out that the previous owner was using the truck on a
jobsite, the truck was driven with the brake on for 3 days, and then was so
wrecked, it was beat off with a hammer. Anyways, I got a M135 parts truck,
and it has the parking brake. I found out I have to take the whole back
plate off the transfer case, so I dug into it. I unbolted all of the bolts.
It got loose, but no go. I unbolted it from the front rear axel, the one the
top driveline goes to, and still nothing. I then unbolted the drum that the
brake contracts around, and totally removed the drive line. Still wouldn't
come off. I saw the nut with a cotten pin through it, which is what I think
needs to come off, I see nothing in the manual to help me. I pulled the pin,
and try to take a chisel and loosen the nut, I sprayed a cr***load of wd-40
on it, came back about 10 minutes ago (11 pm) and tried again. Still no go.
I know it has to come off, is it threaded the normal lefty loosy, righty
tighty way? I tried to hammer it both ways, but no go. I want to get this
off, and I will have to repeat the same process on the 211, and switch the
back plate with parking brake mount between them. I wanted to take the one
off the parts truck first, so if it doesn't work, I still have a working
M211. Any ideas, Im at the end of my rope with this thing. Also, I took out
the winch. Two things, #1, the shear pin, at least thats what I think was
there, (the pin that holds the pto driveline into the final shaft of the
winch) is gone, replaced by a galvanized nail. Is it the same pin as the
M35A2 winch? I saw the post and a source for those. #2, since this was used
in a crane type application, the top plate of the winch was taken off so the
cable would not hit it. Anyone have one off a parts truck they want to sell?
Its the top one that has warnings, etc on it, I see it in my manual. Also,
the back one closest to the radiator is pretty banged up, had some stuff
welded to it. I could clean it up, but if anyone has one of those also, let
me know. Also, We fixed the poor running engine. We cleaned the carb out
totally, still ran bad, but a little better. Took of the valve cover, and
what a suprise! #3 cylinder exaust pushrod was off of the rocker, and #6
exaust was bent. We pulled a rod out of a parts engine, put it in, and it
runs like a top now! Thanks to everyone for thier ideas to that problem.
Thanks so much!
