I believe that the latest GL5 oil has taken care of the brass problem
according to their product sheets.

This is true of transmission syncros on newer Jeeps when using GL5 gear
oil. It eats the yellow metal in the syncros. GL3 is what is
recommended as a result, but try finding it in the store....
