We have two M1009 CUCV’s that are burning out the starter relays at a rapid rate. This is the relay under the dash. The internal contact on the 24v side is what always goes. Both trucks are totally stock military. The relays are genuine GM, not after-market. Both trucks now have the newer gear reduction Delco starters installed. One truck was blowing out the starter relays before the newer starter was installed so we doubt that the starter is the problem. These newer (1988 & up) starters are used as a direct replacement for the older 6.2 engines as well. Wiring connections are tight and clean.
Has anyone else been through this problem?
Any advice appreciated.
