Frank,

What happens is, somebody's computer in whose address book your email
address is listed, got the virus.

Said virus took over their address book and sent out copies to everybody in
the address book. One or more of these addresses (such as yours, you lucky
dog!) was selected at random by the virus to mask the identity of the real
sender of the virus. In other words it spreads by using randomly picked
addresses as "masks" or "aliases".

The purpose of this is to keep everybody in the dark about who's machine is
REALLY spreading contagion. Therefore, quite possibly, the true source of
the virus does not YET have a clue.

The above is applicable if you use a version of Microsoft Outlook as your
mail program. Outlook by default (i.e. does this unless and until you tell
it to otherwise) includes in its address book, the email address of every
single email exchange sent or received by that computer. You'll likely be
amazed at how many unknown people's email addresses are lurking in your
address book.

Hope the above is clearly stated.

Regards,
Vernon
